Model Talks for Assertion-Evidence Approach
Andrew Getsy, a sophomore in computer engineering from Pennsylvania State University, makes a case for Tesla vehicles. Michelle Kehs, a PhD student in mechanical engineering from Penn State, discusses the optimized control of a buoyant wind turbine. Michelle studied in the laboratory of Professor Hosam Fathy. Penn State engineering students (Alison Willie, Zach Holden, and Abby Brandtmeier) analyze how the Kingda Ka roller coaster works. Madeline Nellis and Mary Walker, who are Engineering Ambassadors from Penn State, present an outreach talk to high school students on how engineers develop prosthetics to improve the lives of amputees. |
Amel Awadelkarim, a sophomore in engineering science, discusses use of additive manufacturing to construct buildings. Jacob Snyder, a PhD student in mechanical engineering from Penn State, presents the introduction of his PhD defense. This defense won a best dissertation award. Dr. Snyder studied under Professor Karen Thole. Junior mechanical engineering students from Penn State (Joshua Rosato, Kirby Perosa, Tom Heller, and Katharine Ferster) present a proposed design concept for a small-scale wind turbine to run a low-power application. Lauren Murphy and Sara Krisher, who are Engineering Ambassadors from Penn State, present an outreach talk on how engineers helped Felix Baumgartner achieve the world's highest parachute jump. |
